How to recover the refrigerant of an industrial chiller to the liquid reservoir?

May 30,2024

During the maintenance or upkeep of industrial water chillers, it is necessary to recover the refrigerant before subsequent maintenance and upkeep work can be carried out. There are two common ways to recover the refrigerant in industrial water chillers: one is to recover the refrigerant to the liquid reservoir, and the other is to recover it to the refrigerant cylinder.

I. How to recover the refrigerant of an industrial chiller to the liquid reservoir?

Note: Our industrial chillers are all equipped with high/low pressure controllers. When recovering the refrigerant, the contacts of the high/low pressure controllers should be kept in a normally closed state to prevent the machine from shutting down due to pressure reasons during the refrigerant recovery process.

The specific operation steps for recovering the refrigerant from the industrial chiller to the liquid reservoir are:

Open all the valves of the industrial chiller's cooling system, and turn the suction stop valve counterclockwise to fully open it. Then, use a multi-purpose connector to connect the repair valve to the suction stop valve.

2. Close the repair valve and adjust the suction stop valve to the three-way position.

3. Rotate clockwise to close the outlet stop valve of the liquid reservoir.

4. Start the refrigeration compressor of the industrial chiller, and the main force in the evaporator will be drawn into the condenser and the liquid storage tank.

Ii. How to recover the refrigerant of an industrial chiller back into the gas cylinder?

Refrigerants are stored in dedicated steel cylinders. When recovering the refrigerants from industrial water-cooled machines to the cylinders:

First, a repair valve with a pressure vacuum gauge should be connected to the bypass hole channel of the suction stop valve, and then the suction stop valve should be adjusted to the three-way position.

2. Turn the exhaust stop valve counterclockwise to the fully open position, unscrew the plug of the bypass hole of the exhaust stop valve, and install the multi-purpose connector.

3. Use a hose to connect the empty refrigerant cylinder to the multi-purpose joint of the exhaust stop valve, but do not tighten the joint at the end of the refrigerant cylinder for the time being.

4. Slightly open the exhaust stop valve to release the air in the connecting hose, then tighten the joint.

5. Fully open the valve of the refrigerant cylinder and continuously rinse the cylinder with cooling water.

6. For the pneumatic compressor, slowly close the exhaust stop valve clockwise, and the refrigerant in the industrial chiller will be gradually pushed into the refrigerant cylinder.

Whether the refrigerant of the industrial chiller is recovered to the reservoir or the cylinder, as long as the refrigerant recovery is completed, the pressure gauge at the suction end will be 0.01MPa. After the compressor is turned off and running, if the pressure does not rise, it indicates that the refrigerant recovery is complete. If the pressure does rise, it indicates that the refrigerant has not been recovered completely. The above method should be followed again.

Understanding Cyclone Separators: A Key Component in Industrial Filtration Systems

Cyclone separators, also known as cyclone dust collectors, utilize centrifugal force to separate particulate matter from process streams. The design of a cyclone separator typically features a cylindrical body with an inlet where the mixture of air and solids enters at a tangential angle. This design generates a rotating flow pattern that enhances the separation process. When the mixture enters th
